College Announces Decision Regarding Jo-Ann Graham Spillett

Effective 4:30pm on May 3, 2021, the Investigation Committee of the Nova Scotia College of Physiotherapists has suspended the provisional licence of Jo-Ann Graham Spillett until further notice.

Pursuant to the terms of the suspension, Ms. Graham Spillett is prohibited from:

§  providing physiotherapy services in Nova Scotia;

 

§  billing individuals or insurance companies for the provision of physiotherapy services;

 

§  holding herself out as entitled to practise physiotherapy; and

 

§  referring to herself as a physiotherapist in any and all forms in (written, electronic, verbal, or otherwise).

The Investigation Committee suspended Ms. Graham Spillett’s provisional licence pursuant to section 46(10) of the Physiotherapists Act. Section 46(10) authorizes the Investigation Committee to suspend a member’s licence where the member fails to comply with the Investigation Committee’s direction to produce records and accounts kept with respect to the member’s practice.

Ms. Graham Spillett repeatedly failed to meaningfully respond to deadlines set by the Investigation Committee to provide documentation. Upon extending the first deadline, the Investigation Committee put Ms. Graham Spillett on notice that if she failed to adhere to the new deadline her licence would be suspended immediately. The Investigation Committee accordingly decided to suspend Ms. Graham Spillett’s provisional licence upon her failing to respond by the new deadline.
