Board Policies
The Board of Directors (the Board) of the Nova Scotia College of Physiotherapists (NSCP) acts on behalf of and serves and protects the public interest by regulating the Physiotherapy profession and governing its members (registrants) in Nova Scotia.
The Board uses a Policy Governance framework to ensure organizational goals are achieved. Policy Governance is a governance framework that emphasizes clear policies, board self-governance, and a separation of board and operational roles. It focuses on defining and adhering to a set of high-level policies, which guide the organization's actions and provide a clear direction for achieving desired outcomes while allowing executive leadership flexibility in achieving those ends.
Policy Governance is often seen as a way to clarify the roles and responsibilities of both the board and executive leadership within an organization, making it a valuable model for those seeking to improve governance practices and accountability. It is widely used in various sectors, including non-profits, educational institutions, and some corporate boards.
